County Closed Championship a triumph

Following two successful county tournaments last year, we had our biggest entry for a junior county closed yet. The Staffordshire Squash Junior County Closed took place on Saturday the 25th of November at Burton Manor Sports Association in Stafford. We had 36 juniors competing over 6 different age categories.

The event was a great occasion. For some juniors, it was their first experience of playing in a tournament and the relaxed environment really helped them settle into their squash games.

Well done to all our juniors who took part and our new county champions. The match of the tournament had to be the U17s final between Jack A and Natharn G. The standard of play was exceptional, as was their attitude and sportmanship.

Well done in particular to Jack A who won both the Under 15 and Under 17 county titles. Having previously won the championship two years in a row at Under 13 and Under 15 level, his squash was outstanding.

A huge thank you to all the parents for supporting them and running them to the venue. We would also like to say a massive thank you to Paul from Goldshill Limited for sponsoring the event and his really generous donation. Additionally, thanks goes out to Burton Manor Sports Association for enabling us to run this event, for the use of their courts and facilities and a big shout out to Shaun, Nick and Rob for all their efforts without which this tournament wouldn’t have been possible.
